Scotland, Boo boos, shout outs and Zac Brown Band!

If you think you live the good life- you're wrong!  These guys live the good life!  David's Dad took He and his brothers to Scotland and several friends joined them.  They were gone for 6 days and played 7 golf courses.  Sound crazy to you?  Me too- but to these guys- it was a trip of a lifetime.  Here's my first shout out to Mark Jr. because I've stolen all his pictures from his flickr site!

Is this hilarious or what?  When they played St. Andrew's Old Course- they did it right!

Taylor and her friend, Ava, at Rapunzel!  My friend from middle school, Erika, and I took our girls to Derby Dinner Playhouse.  It is a small theater where we ate lunch and watched the play Rapunzel!  Taylor still talks about this day and she can't wait to go again.  It was a great Mother Daughter day!

Messy faces from Saturday morning Plehns Doughnuts!  YUM!

And messy hands... they have developed a nasty taste for junk food.  (I blame their Dad!)

ZAC BROWN BAND!!!
David and I went to see Zac Brown in Indy the beginning of this month.  We also went with our friends, Emily and David.  We had a great time and this concert was one for the books! We had pit tickets right up front and we are now concert snobs! I did take several videos which I could include- but you can hear me signing in the background and it is NOT pretty!  Although after a couple of beers- I thought I sounded pretty good!

OK- so my pictures aren't great but check out the violinist on the left.  I'm not sure if you know- but I played the violin for 10 years.  Jimmie De Martini is one bad a** violinist/ fiddliest.  I kept waiting for him to call my name and ask me to play with him- but he never did:(  I did however bring out my air violin- have no fears!  A shout out to my parents for watching the kids overnight so we could have a night away- Thank you!!!

Have you ever had days where you leave your kids to play for 10 minutes while you have an adult conversation on the phone?  Then you walk up stairs to find this...  I was not a happy camper...  Have you ever tried to make a 2 and 4 year old clean up and mess they made???  Ha- it took FOREVER and everything I had in me not to just do it myself.

 My boys...

And yes... the years of David playing rec league sports with his buddies has finally caught up to him.  Ever since we've been dating he's played softball, football, and basketball with buddies.  Well folks- call it old age or just his time run out.  It was catching the last out of the inning that caused him to break his right hand:(  And he'd want you to know that he did catch it!  He was mad enough at himself- I didn't have to be...  Although... he DOES support our family with a profession where you MUST have working, steady hands.  Playing all the sports he does- it had to happen some time.  So it has happened.  To every problem there must be a solution.  We are blessed to have friends in high places!  Our good friend Logan Mast (Orthopedic resident at U of L) took care of David and got him into a great Orthopedic Surgeon.  Dave broke his hand on Thursday night and surgery was performed the next day.  We are grateful because the sooner his hand heals the sooner David can get back to work.  So here is a big shout out to Logan Mast and his fiance Ashley Roberts!  (You'll see more of them in October after their big day!)

I have to wonder... David, will you continue to play sports where your money maker is at risk?  What do you think?

He broke his first metacarpal in his right hand.  (Which is funny because in high school I broke my first metacarpal but in my left hand.)  Of course he beat me because he actually had 3 fractures in the same bone.  It was a pretty nasty break and he is now the proud owner of 6 new screws.  He is out of work for a limited time and I must throw in another shout out to David's parents for taking care of the kids while we were at the hospital all day!   Thank You Thank you!

And guess who turned 60???  This fine Lady, Martha Lu, turned 60 on August 1st.  Happy Birthday Mom!  We love you!

I think you're all caught up now!  We wish you a wonderful month and a great school year!
Take Care! ~Megan
