We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Today I am thankful for my warm home. Right now it is 32 degrees and I can't imagine being on the streets tonight. I can't imagine what it would feel like not to have a warm roof over my head. For that... I am truly thankful, gracious, lucky... Of course, there is a very long list of things I'm thankful for- like the people that frequent my blog! I'm doing more and more thinking about what I am grateful for these days. Each day I seem to be a little more humbled and in non belief of the people and things I have in my life!
And on to more pictures!!!
Our cousins came over to play. The boys played outside...
while the girls ate!
Ben and Dave at the football game. What handsome guys!
Our first game against Butler in our new KFC YUM! Arena! It is amazing! But what is more amazing is that our seats ended up being feet away from the bathrooms and concessions!
what happens when he feeds himself...
Ben, I was only gone for a couple minutes...
Look closely... her potty chart is filled up with stickers! This girl is officially potty trained which means she is a...
Potty Princess!
David is not fond of me posting this online. (So it may not stay long...) And I understand- but doesn't this make you laugh? No clothes... just the necessities... panties, "cown" and "sues"!!!
And last but not least I want to give a shout out to one of my Best Friends Katy!!! She and Jason are expecting twins this summer! I can't wait to hear their stories about their crazy household! Congratulations Katy and Jason!!! We love you!
Have a great weekend and bundle up... It's cold outside! ~Megan!
Happy Happy Fall! I'm not sure what your fall is looking like these days, but it was 77 degrees in Louisville today. It was beautiful! We've been up to lots of fun things and just wanted to share a couple of things with you guys. Here are some pictures for you!!!
Good Friends a d a night on the town!
Our wonderful friends treated David, Blakely, and I to a birthday dinner for our 30th birthdays. It was such a great night shared with good conversation and lots of laughter. We are truly lucky!
Our view from Rivue that night!
Our first basketball game of the season in our new arena! Taylor thinks it is a little too bright and loud...
David's jackolantern... Go Cards!
Remember our sweet ladybug from Halloween last year? My how she's grown and now her little brother joins her!
Our sweet boy is into everything... and drooling everywhere!!!
We made a quick trip to Katy and Jason's this past weekend. We were able to catch a Wesleyan football game too. Thanks to Jason, a Veteran of KWC's football team, Taylor was able to get on the field!
Jason, David, Me, Taylor, and Katy cheering the Panthers to a victory! G o Panthers!!!
Taylor in Mia's cage.
I'm pretty sure Mia was relieved when the 2 year old was locked up in her cage! Her anxiety was much better with Taylor locked in the cage! (Please note our daughter put herself in the cage all on her own. We did not help... although we may have thought about it a time of two!)
Taylor and I "making" cookies. I had all the cookies evenly spread out. I turned around to turn on the oven and she had paired them up. She said, "They need to be with their fam- a- wees"!
We love you and wish you a wonderful weekend! ~Megan!
Well... the long awaited wedding has come and gone. Jon and Emie Schulte are presently in Jamaica enjoying the sunny weather. (No... I'm not jealous at all!) As most weddings, lots of family came in town to celebrate and we tried to make the most of it!
Some of David's cousins out and about in town. We had such a good time at the rehearsal dinner... we continued our fun!
David and I were both in the wedding party. This is a picture of us on the trolley after the couple said their "I Do's"!
Taylor and her big brother if she had one!
Miles, Taylor, and Lucy were in the wedding as well. Shannon snapped this photo before the ceremony. He held Taylor's hand and guided her down the aisle as she looked up at the ceiling and talked to guests sitting in the pews as she walked by. He did a great job! Luckily, when she was about abort the mission, she saw David at the end of the aisle and yelled, "Daddy!" It was truly precious and warmed my heart!
Mom and Dad were there too. A BIG thanks to them for watching the kids while we were doing wedding duties. They were a big help. The babysitter came to get them by this time and we enjoyed a dance and sing-a-long at the reception!
The Bride and Groom! Congrats!
Emie created a photo booth at the reception. We took a minute with Shannon, Mark, and Stella to have some fun!
The next day our good 'ol CARDS beat Connecticut! We enjoyed a little tailgating before the game.
GO CARDS!!!!!
Ahhh... what a sweet sleeping boy. Sometimes it is exhausting being a Cards fan!
We had a great time at Jon and Emie's wedding! I regret I didn't get pictures of the rest of the family in town. But... we all had a great time together and I was so happy to spend time David's family. We hadn't seen some of them since our wedding 4 and 1/2 years ago.
We wish you a wonderful week. We'll be back next week to share our Halloween pictures with you.
So this week was kind of a big one... David turned 30 on the 11th and I followed close behind on the 18th. Yes folks... we have reached our 30s... ahhhhhhhhh! David eased into it a little easier than me. Come to think of it David eases into most things easier than I do! He is a pretty relaxed dude if you've met him. This quality allowed him to be a good support to me, along with other good friends and family! We began our birthday week with tickets to a Colts game! (I wanted to get a picture of us at the game but Dave didn't think it was cool.)
It was just coincidence that our brand new basketball arena opened it's doors for public tours on 10/11/10. I'm not sure any other present or surprise would have suited David more. If you know David at all- you know he was as excited as a kid in a candy store!
We ran into the Cardinal Bird in the elevator!
After the tour we enjoyed a family dinner with David's family downtown!
It was a beautiful week so I dressed us in our UofL colors (since it was game day) and went to the zoo. A rare occurrence at the zoo... almost all of the giraffe family outside!
A typical Saturday morning at our house. Nancy's bagels, coffee, and orange juice. But- look how big our little guy is getting! He did this all by himself!
Jeff and Allison gave Ben this sock monkey outfit when he was born. It is size 3-6 months but still fits our little guy. Ben really didn't mind wearing the hood when he didn't have to sit still. He just looked so darn cute I wanted to take a picture!
And this is often a typical Saturday afternoon... ahhh boys...
But I wanted to do something outside since it was beautiful outside....
St. Matthews Fire Station had an open house. Taylor liked this engine much better than the engines driven today. It was a little more her size you could say...
"So Big!"
A sweet embrace by the Fire Dog
And these beauties came to my house during nap time on my birthday! Dave sent 30 long stem red roses... what a guy!
We ended our birthday week with dinner with my parents. Then we all stopped to walk down Hillcrest Ave., which is a street in Louisville that goes above and beyond Halloween decorating.
Bridezilla...
Happy Halloween to you all! We had a great birthday week and were lucky to spend it with our friends and family. My friends have told me you are more confident in your 30s, more beautiful, and kick ass! So here's to 30!
~Megan
We also wish the best to Jon and Emie who get married this Friday the 22nd. Please keep them in your prayers!
Ahhh... the sweet memories of a relaxing vacation with just my husband... The memories of these couple days will get me through trying times and screaming matches with my children for at least several more weeks! David and I traveled to San Jose, Costa Rica two weeks ago. We left on Thursday and returned on Tuesday. Some would say this was a short trip, but for us it was close to bliss. David took the opportunity to attend an Invisalign meeting in San Jose and I jumped on the opportunity to travel with him! San Jose is the home to Invisalign's computerized treatment design facility. This is who and what David communicates with when he sets up an Invisalign case for his patients.
David had the first day and a half of meetings and I had a day and a half of a massage, lots of reading, sitting by the pool, and meeting new friends! Saturday afternoon we went zip lining and Sunday we hung out together with no schedules or plans. We ate when we wanted, slept when we wanted, and weren't in charge of anyone! We were able to speak in complete sentences. We finish our thoughts. We had meaningful conversations about what we want the next five years to look like, what kind of work I want to do when the kids are in school, and our dreams as we grow older together. We had a wonderful time!!! This was ONLY possible though because our wonderful parents took care of our precious little ones while we were gone. We are truly grateful for our parents and our time together...
Look very closely and you'll see Mountains at dusk
The view from our room
More mountains we could see from our hotel
Pictures from zip lining through the rain forest and cloud forest
Zip lining through the rain forest was incredible. After seeing all I saw- there is no doubt in my mind there is a God. Our earth is so breath taking, simple, natural, and amazing.
Here is a video David shot while he zip lined!
We found ourselves being "David and Megan" again, minus the parent part. And... although the "parent part" is very important to us, it is always nice to be just "us" and remember why we started this thing in the first place...
Some of the Invisalign Reps. and Dentist buddies we met...
And more buddies!
We ate and drank and were merry!
Our friends Micca and Chris from Texas
and Ann and Jaclyn from Texas too!
I know it was a great trip when I can't stop smiling as I type. I'm glad David and I enjoy traveling together. We have a good time at home, in Louisville, but it is always nice to experience new things with your best friend!
